  • Only parents of University of Nevada, Reno students may post on the message board
  • If you feel the need to send an angry message, take a break.  If you write the message out, don’t send it immediately.  Save it and look at it later.  Try then to write something with a milder tone.
  • Be brief.  Be succinct and it will have a greater impact.  Remember the longer your post, fewer people are likely to read it.
  • Typing in all capital letters is considered shouting and may irritate other members.  We ask that you please refrain from typing in all caps.
  • Remember that whatever you post to the message board is public.  You never know who might read what you posted.  Members may copy it and send it to others (though it would be better to ask first).
  • Do not include anyone’s private information, including your own or your student’s.  This includes identifiers such as: names, race, city or state of origin, phone number and/or current physical address at the university.  Should you want to send such information, do so in a private e-mail or in a private message but still use caution.
  • It is recommended that prior to posting to this message board you should read what others have written to get a feel of the flow and language of the discussion.
  • Remember to always title your messages.
  • When you post a question, make it as easy as possible for someone to help you.  Make your question clear and specific, and provide as much information as you can.
  • The message board cannot be used for commercial or fundraising purposes, so advertisements, sales announcements and donation requests are strictly prohibited.  Other prohibited postings include chain letters, email forwards, political commentary, off-color humor and foul language.
  • All postings must show respect for the dignity, worth, values, ideas, opinions, diversity and rights of other members.  Personal attacks are strictly prohibited.  When dealing with opinions opposite from your own, please use courteous language and focus on the strengths and weaknesses of the arguments being made, not on the personal qualities of those who may not share your position.
